Words of Validation (#2)

Updated: Mar 26, 2021

Are you active on LinkedIn?

Do you like receiving recommendations?

Do you cherish them?

I do and that is why I decided to show off the seven recommendations I have received.

Last Thursday was my first Words of Validation, with two recommendations included.

Today was #3, from my beloved mentor: George Tabah.

When Angela was Vice-President of Education in the McGill Toastmasters Club (2010-2011 year), she was my trusted right-hand teammate during my Presidency. Of her many strengths, three, in particular, served our club (80-plus members, the biggest in the province) very well:

1) Organizational skills. As VP, she was single-handedly responsible for the scheduling of nearly 20 speaking roles, every week, for 48 weeks.

This role involved following up with speakers to ensure attendance, tenaciously finding members to fill in cancellations, and taking care of the related administrative tasks. She did her job so attentively I could almost forget about that aspect of meeting management.

2) Reliability. She was always there. When on very rare occasions she was absent (she did take vacations), she made sure to delegate her tasks responsibly.

3) Club Ambassadorship. Angela is a poised and engaging speaker. As an executive, she always spoke glowingly of our club, truly cared about its health, and promoted its interests when we were recruiting new members.

If I were President again, I would hope she’d join me to reprise her role as VP of Education.

George is the writer and eloquent speaker I aspire to be. He is dedicated to helping others to grow.

I am thankful for his heartwarming words of validation and I miss his presence at TM meetings.
