The Power of Grit

That is the theme for tonight's Toastmasters meeting. It also makes a perfect title for my blog.

As eloquently defined by a Psychologist, Angela Lee Duckworth, the author of the book Grit. It is a combination of passion and perseverance.

Toastmasters promote communication, public speaking, and leadership, which is no way an overnight matter. It needs the courage to push through, no matter what the obstacles are.

As per our VP Education's words, "We need grit for our Toastmasters journey more than ever in this pandemic and virtual meeting era."

I couldn't agree more with her.

Tonight, one of 28 semifinalists of 2020 Toastmasters International World Champion of Public Speaking will give a speech. Her name is Lauren D.Merritt-Taylor.

I listened to her contest speech and connected with her on LinkedIn. She even provided me some feedback on my blog at my request. I am grateful for that, even more so when she accepted the invitation to give a speech.

"Over time, grit is what separates fruitful lives from aimlessness". – John Ortberg
