Last Tuesday, I wrote Part One of Silver Lining to promote McGill Toastmasters' meeting theme. The key message was: despite the crisis and stress of the pandemic, the silver lining for McGill Toastmasters is that we still hold our online meetings every week. Kudos to its committed members especially the executives.
Part Two of Silver Lining is about our personal lives. What were the positive side effects coming out of this Covid scare?
An example could be: If there's a silver lining to losing my job, it's that I'll now be able to go to school full-time and finish my degree earlier.
When my position was abolished in 2015, I studied French full time for a year. I started from level 3 and finished level 6 (all levels offered) and I even started French Writing Level 1.
I lost my employment this January. I started shaking things up from March. I attended the Job Seekers Club. I took courses on LinkedIn. I attended various workshops. I made many meaningful connections. I continue building relationships.
The top three positive side effects in my personal life this year:
Lost 5 pounds (more dining in, walking outside helped)
Started a daily blog. This one is #181
Decided to embark on Toastmasters Pathways. Tonight I am taking my first step on my "Effective Coaching" Pathways: delivering my Ice Breaker
What about YOU?
