I was suggested to write about self-discipline as I was told it is one of my strengths.
According to Your Dictionary: Self-discipline is the ability you have to control and motivate yourself, stay on track, and do what is right.
An example of self-discipline is when you make sure you get up an hour early before work each day to get to the gym.
That example is not good for me as I don't like the gym, I do 10,000 steps daily since 2017. If the weather is nice, I take it outside, if not, I walk in the mall or dance at home.
Rain or shine, I do it but not out of disciplining myself, rather, because of this belief:
"If it is important to you, you will find a way. If not, you will find an excuse". Ryan Blair
The same can be said about my Toastmasters membership since 2003. It has been important to me since day one and I rarely had to find an excuse. My article No Pain, Just Gain! says it all.
The same belief applies to my new daily writing habit. I believe that writing daily can enrich my life in many ways so I write.
I like the quote used as a cover image: it does not matter how slowly you go, as long as you do not stop. Confucius.
That is my take on self-discipline: importance and continuance. In other words, if it is important to you, you do it on a daily basis. Guess what?
"What are what we repeatedly do. Excellence is not an act, but a habit". Aristotle.
