What is your favorite activity for a rainy day like yesterday?
For me, it was a perfect day for some learning and networking activities.
I learned there was a career conference hosted by Concordia CAPS so I registered.
I attended four of the five sessions offered and I have learned a lot.
Cristina Zenato: Overcoming your Fears, A true talent with a remarkable story. She made her "dancing with the sharks" story all relevant in today's reality. A very impressive and inspiring presentation
Farshad (Fred) Rouhani: How to Tell Your Career Story with Impact. Great content and practical method. As he quoted: "Stories have the true power to move people's hearts, minds, feet and wallets in the storyteller's intended direction." Peter Guber
Laughter Yoga - It was the first time I practiced Laughter Yoga. Fun, fun, fun.
Virtual Networking Café: a very engaging breakout room where we chatted with four other animately. After, we went back to the main room and was introduced to more speakers/mentors who each gave three key points to take away.
By the end of the sessions, I made ten new connections. I did take advantage of such a great opportunity made possible by Concordia CAPS and my gratitude goes to all the organizers.
I am applying my strategies mentioned in this blog: do something productive each week to five connections (old or new) in my network.
My intension is to learn as much as I can from them and from each other as nicely put by one of my connections.
"Effective networking isn't a result of luck - it requires hard work and persistence". Lewis Howes
Cheers to effective networking!
