A Special Weekend

Updated: 7 days ago

This past weekend, starting from Friday, I put together a series of simple yet meaningful actions—many of which could be described with words beginning with the letter S. From spontaneous swimming to a satisfying stretch, it felt serene, smooth, and stimulating. I’m calling it my special weekend.

Friday:

After work, I walked over to Anna’s place and spent a few lovely hours with her and two other friends. We shared a delicious meal—thank you, Anna, for your wonderful hospitality—and played cards for a few hours. I didn’t want to skip any weekend without a card game, and I’m glad I didn’t ♠️♥️♠️♦️♣️

Saturday:

Studying: I got up around 6:30 and studied Duolingo for 30 minutes. I was on day 469, and I don't want to lose my streak 💪💪💪

Shopping: nothing fancy, just grocery shopping, but I accumulated steps for reaching my daily 10,000 steps🚶🚶🚶

Swimming: It was a spontaneous dip, but I am glad I went, as there weren't as many people as usual. I did seven pull-ups in the water too, which is great for building strength. Funny enough, I got soaked again on the way back—this time from the rain 🌧️🌧️🌧️

Sleeping: I rewarded myself with a little nap after. I stretched my sound sleep for more than one hour 😴😴😴

Savoring: I went to a dinner party and savored some delicious homemade dishes. I met a few interesting people and learnt a thing or two about something new 💡💡💡

Sunday:

I wanted to stroll through the city and visit the museum. The sun wasn't shining, so I took the metro instead. I did see a new exhibition, which made the trip worthwhile 🖼️🖼️🖼️

I searched for a new movie and found a French movie (with English subtitles). Ma Mère, Dieu et Sylvie Vartan. It was based on a true touching story and there were a few stellar performers. There were only six people in the audience and I was lucky to be one of them 📽️📽️📽️

I did more window shopping at Winners' after the movie🛒🛒🛒

I stopped by Anna's place and squeezed in a little playing session with her cat in the hallway. I was there to deliver some salad and to show support. It was delightful to spend some time with them both🐈🐈🐈

On my way back home, I listened to music and sang songs in my head 🎶🎶🎶

In the evening, I settled in to watch a movie Who Am I?  a movie I was inspired to see by a story I just heard during my recent trip. I spotted the building I had just seen a few days ago in Rotterdam—it felt surreal, like the trip was reaching back into the present 😲😲😲

After the movie, I did a light stretch and felt a sense of satisfaction ☺️☺️☺️

Overall, it wasn’t a packed weekend—I’ve had busier ones—but it was special in its own way: spontaneous, simple, smooth, and surprisingly stimulating.

What about you? Anything special you would like to share?
