Today I joined a few people in China Town for Dim Sum and they became my new connections, not just on LinkedIn.
They all work for the government and they are all Asian.
A gentleman from Statistic Canada organized this event, It was not a huge turnout (maybe next time?) but for the four people who did show up, it was an intimate friendly first encounter.
The lady who works in Health Canada has the same title as I had when I started working for the government last April. She has worked in quite a few ministries already in a short period of time.
The other lady works for Global Affairs Canada and has an attractive title: Deputy Director. She manages 12 people and has a very rich working experience in various domains. She has also published some scientific papers.
I am very impressed by all and I have learned a thing or two from each.
It is an enriching networking experience and I am glad that I joined the event.
I am looking forward to the next gathering, no matter what it is and where we will meet.
