Keeping in Touch

How do you keep in touch with your contacts, your friends, and your family?

Do you write to them, call them from time to time or do video chat?

I received a message on LinkedIn from someone I met last year. She reached out to me to show her interest in attending our meeting and potentially joining our group. I introduced Toastmasters to her before she went on her maternal leave. Now the baby is eight months old and she wants to expand her network and learn more about public speaking.

I was thrilled to hear from her. Perfect timing. Next Tuesday is our first Open House since the pandemic and we intend to get more members through the event.

I got a text message from a friend asking about my well-being. We had a good chat during my lunch break.

This Sunday, I will have a video chat with my daughter and my son who live in a city three hours behind.

But I forgot to call a friend tonight at the time we scheduled last month. It was supposed to be our monthly check-in call but it slipped off my mind. I feel so bad. ☹

I should have a better reminder/alarm system to keep me in check.

My Fitbit watch is a good one to set an alarm. I should have also asked Alexa to set up a reminder. She never disappointed me.

Lessons learned: using technology to help keep in touch through technology.
