The quest for true belonging and the courage to stand alone, by Brené Brown.
“The Power of Vulnerability,” is one of the top five most-viewed TED talks in the world with more than 50 million views.
That was probably the first time I heard her name and wanted to read more about her. I did read a few of her bestsellers, including Daring Greatly and Dare to Lead.
This book doesn't disappoint. Her books never did. They inspire and educate, with solid research data and intriguing stories. Someone claimed that she "has wowed the world with her own peculiar mix of raw authenticity, honesty and strength - which she calls vulnerability".
Here are a few quotes from the book that I resonate with the most, especially the last one.
“You are only free when you realize you belong no place—you belong every place—no place at all. The price is high. The reward is great.”
“You will always belong anywhere you show up as yourself and talk about yourself and your work in a real way.”
“True belonging is the spiritual practice of believing in and belonging to yourself so deeply that you can share your most authentic self with the world and find sacredness in both being a part of something and standing alone in the wilderness. True belonging doesn’t require you to change who you are; it requires you to be who you are.”
If you are seeking the meaning of true belongings and have the courage to stand alone, this book will be your best companion.
