“Doing the best at this moment puts you in the best place for the next moment” Oprah Winfrey.
That is what I believe and practice daily.
I posted my seeking new opportunity request in a Facebook group. I promoted myself and my blog. I didn't come across many posts offering opportunities but yesterday, someone I did not know, started a chat informing a position I wasn't aware of. She saw my post and took the initiative to contact me. While I was still searching for the said post, she copied and pasted the post into our chatbox. She encouraged me to apply and I did, especially when I read the following:
What we offer:
Wonderful Colleagues
Interesting Work
Casual/Term Opportunity
Central Agency Experience
Downtown Ottawa (telework until further notice
Close to O-train Station
In the cover letter, I wrote: I have the skills you are looking for and what you offer is in line with what I am seeking.
It is a perfect match!
A few hours later, I got an email asking for more information and a request for an informal discussion. A few emails later, a meeting has been set up.
I am grateful for the opportunity.
I am also grateful for strangers who reach out and lend their helping hand without being asked.
That is why I always try to do my best as well, at work and in life. I like to return the kindness I have received, to facilitate whatever tasks I have been assigned, with tact, respect, and discretion.
I believe: Doing the best at this moment puts you in the best place for the next moment
