I recently connected with a few colleagues on LinkedIn. One of them is, unfortunately, leaving DFO very soon. I have never met her (or any of my new colleagues) in person but I do remember the fuzzy warm feelings I felt when she first welcomed me at a meeting and asked everyone to turn on his or her camera just to introduce himself or herself to me virtually.
As wisely said by Maya Angelou: I have learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.
That is why after we connected, I sent her a message expressing my gratitude and my best wishes for her new adventure.
Here is her response:

Please do keep in touch. Our paths may cross again.
Keep them on their toes in BMIE! =0)
I hope that she doesn't mind my sharing if she reads this one day.
Leaders like her do influence many others in a positive way. I feel very fortunate that her path and mine crossed.
