Have you heard about the Summer Palace in Beijing?
Have you visited Prince Edward Island in Canada?
Summer Palace, that is the English translation for 颐和园 in Beijing, China. It is a vast ensemble of lakes, gardens, and palaces in Beijing. It was an imperial garden in the Qing dynasty. It is located on the western outskirts of Beijing, one of my favorite places to visit when I lived in Beijing from 1988-1997.
Prince Edward Island is one of three eastern Canada's maritime provinces. It is the smallest province of Canada in both land area and population, but the most densely populated, according to Wikipedia.
That is not how we felt though. We didn't see that many people when biking, walking or driving around. We saw friendly faces, peaceful harbors, and picturesque scenery everywhere, especially red-sand beaches and impressive lighthouses.
When I revisit those photos taken in July 2016, Summer Palace came to mind. I find similarity and resemblance. We also visited a city called Summerside.
We tried the Confederation Trail on bikes, the famous 449 kilometers of rolled stone dust trail. It wasn't a super pleasant trail for hybrid bikes though, it might work better for mountain bikes.
I love seafood and I ate lobster. My hubby bought me a round key-shaped necklace holder with a pearl still sleeping in an oyster. The color of the pearl wasn't known until I later opened it at home. It was black.
According to this article, Black Pearls are one of the most mysterious-looking of all. They represent mystery, independence, strength, and riches.
I would like to visit that Summer Palace again.
