The title was borrowed (partly) from an article published in Harvard Business Review: Don't Underestimate the Power of a Walk, written by Deborah Grayson Riegel.
I love walking so any article highlighting the benefits would generally resonate with me.
She listed five ways to walk with purpose. I added my own reflections after each way:
Walk for perspective: the beauty of nature, the warm sunshine, the clear blue sky, can always bring new perspectives to one's life
Walk for connection: talking with friends is one of my enjoyments while walking in a quiet neighborhood
Walk for learning: audiobook has been my best companion since 2018, music always brought me joy whenever I indulged myself in solitude. When I signed up for the free month of LinkedIn Learning, I did a lot of courses on the go as they were also available for downloads
Walk for gratitude: I am grateful that I am healthy and I did keep a steady 125 lb and under since last summer. My minor foot problem went away with a consistent daily walk. I could also enjoy a foot massage before and after my 10,000 steps daily walk. Yes, I do that mostly in one block of time, meaning I am outside from one hour and a half to two hours each day, rain or shine
Walk for productivity: I could practice my speech while taking my walk, or read out loud to some French phrases I listen to. It is very productive
I totally agree with the summary of that article: walk when you can, where you can. Your body, mind, and soul will thank you for it.
