That was the caption for the cover photo taken on June 1, 2014. It was my son Eric's 16th birthday. We had dinner at Saint Sushi Plateau. one of his favorite restaurants.
I remember that day vividly. It was also my first and only 100 km Tour de l'Île.
I did my first 50 km with Eric on June 1, 1998, his 10th birthday. It was a bit rainy in the end but we did it. We were very proud.
We participated in 4/9 of this annual event together. They were sweet memories. I remember once we passed by my apartment and it was raining. I didn't allow him to quit. Another time we passed by and I let him go as he needed to do this project. One year he had to do a musical exam and his sister went with me. That was nice.
Eric has been a talented musician since he was little. He has been part of the church choir, school jazz band, and school honor band. His talent won him a full scholarship at the CEGEP and my heart whenever he played, either Saxophone, piano, or guitar. He has performed twice at my Toastmasters's Christmas party with his buddy and his tutor. He made me so proud.
He left his nest when he turned 18. This June he turned 22. This Friday he is flying away to chase his dream as a software developer at Google.
Go big, my son, my forever sunshine.
Thanks for allowing me to post the attached on my blog. I am happy to know that it was an amusing read.
