Stay Connected vs Get Unplugged

Updated: Mar 30, 2021

How often do you stay connected? 24/7?

Do you sometimes get unplugged to take a break and restore some balance?

Do you find it easier to stay connected or get unplugged?

When I did a search on Google, I found the following headings:

  • The right way to unplug when you are on vacation (source)

  • To unplug and not to unplug? That is the holiday question (source)

  • 9 steps to disconnect from social media and connect with life again (source)

  • 7 important reasons to unplug, find spae and fight technology addiction (source)

I came across some interesting viewpoints (texts in italic are my observations)

  • Solitude is harder to find in an always-connected world: unless you leave your phone behind and indulge yourself in nature or something else creative

  • 84% of cell phone users claim they could not go a single day without their device: are you one of them?

  • Life, at its best, is happening right in front of you: true, except there is not much in action with the distancing and confinement

  • Eliminate gadgets for one hour before sleep and after wake up: not sure how many people can do that. I am trying my best and I am halfway there.

At our Toastmasters meeting, the Table Topics session is usually weaved around the theme of the meeting. Three people will answer three theme-related questions and three instant evaluators will evaluate each speaker right after.
