I started today's writing by asking a few questions on Google.
How many hours a day should you stand?
Is standing too long bad for you?
Which one is worse, sitting too long or standing too long?
This article: The truth behind standing desks, published by Harvard Medical School, mentioned the following interesting benefits of a standing desk.
While sitting, study subjects burned 80 calories/hour — about the same as typing or watching TV
While standing, the number of calories burned was only slightly higher than while sitting — about 88 calories/hour
Walking burned 210 calories/hour.
Based on that article, walking is still the best way of burning calories and I am totally into daily walking.
Well, since we all heard, sitting too long is bad for you, having an alternative standing desk would be an ideal way of working throughout the day.
Don't you agree?
My last employer did offer the standing desk at work and I did enjoy the variety of working in front of the computer.
Tomorrow I will be able to apply that variety at my home office but for work, thanks to my husband.
The three-monitor working station was a generous gift from a past accounting firm's partners.
The standing desk is the courtesy of my husband who didn't use it that much himself since he bought it.
I am very excited to give it a try tomorrow and see how it goes.
I am sure I will enjoy the variety during those hours in front of the computer.
I am grateful. ♥♥♥
