Have you heard of this saying by Greek Philographer Heraclitus: The only constant in life is change?
Believe it or not, we do face changes every day - whether it is a simple change in the weather, our daily schedule, or an expected change of seasons. Today we experienced that twice a year time change, for some, at least we got one hour extra to stay up or sleep in...
When I took my walk this morning, the chill I felt gave me the taste of winter. The sun didn't stay long before the cloud took over. My sunglasses became useless. The view from the cover photo taken just a few weeks before is now nowhere to be seen, at least not today.
It is time to be aware of getting attacked by SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder). In this article: Winter Blues - feeling under the weather? the author listed the following ways to beat that:
• Exercise to keep your energy levels up, and to help release your body’s natural ‘feel-good’ chemicals that improve your mood.
• Eat nutritious food to maintain energy and motivation. Often comfort foods are highly processed and high in sugar – leaving you feeling lethargic or flat.
• Talk to your doctor about your vitamin levels. You may be lacking in Vitamins D and B which have specific benefits in improving our mood and well-being.
• Enjoy the winter sun
One more to add: keep connected with friends and family in various ways. Mental health is an effort to maintain. It is important to have a supportive network and to reach out when needed.
Are you ready for the change?
