"Recognition is the greatest motivator." Gerard c. Eakedale
I totally agree with the quote. I am excited to read the email sent in December by our dedicated VP Membership about the recognition program.
"Toastmasters is not only a place for us to exchange and grow our own communication and leadership skills. It is also a safe haven for us to be ourselves, meeting new people, and grow personally."
She elaborated with the details of the recognition program:
Every time you attend the club meeting you will gain 2 points
Every time you take a role, you will gain 5 points
Every time you bring 1 guest, you will get 7 points (More guests, more points)
The first two are a no-brainer to me. The third needs a bit of effort. Well, I love making some efforts to promote something I have been so proudly involved in for almost two decades.
So I decided to invite at least one guest to each meeting and at least five guests when I give my monthly speech. Normally that happens on the last Tuesday of the month.
Why? Because when you are a member of McGill Toastmasters club:
You learn to speak with confidence
Enhance your ability to inspire
Sharpen your presentation skills
Improve your communication
Give and get constructive feedback
Thrive in a supportive learning environment
Find your voice while learning to tell your story
Seven people came for my first speech, Four came to my second.
Thank YOU for helping me winning that first place...twice!
Come join us this evening. It will be a time well-spent among a bunch of friendly people.
