It has been more than a month since my last post under the category "Life in China".
After a mesmerizing (word of the day) Toastmasters meeting tonight, I decided to expand more on the "little things" (theme of the meeting) that made my life in China "GRAND".
I left my parents and went to college when I was really young. I never went back to live with my parents again. After I started my own family, I developed a hobby of having photos taken in the studio. I also started writing articles. My sister told me that every time when they received photos or a copy of my published articles, my father would hide his favorite photos of my daughter somewhere so other people won't take them away. He would also cut out my articles from the newspaper or magazine and kept them neatly in a binder.
One of the benefits of my father's work was to get things for free from time to time, from food to home decor. I heard sometimes he hid things from my siblings to give them to me when I visited them as he often said that I was far from them and I should get a fair share despite that fact.
My father never told anyone that I was her favorite but he often made me feel that way.
This past Sunday was Father's Day. My mind was flooded with little things like that around my father. Some wet my eyes but warmed my heart.
There are also many little things around my daughter when she was little, before we came to Canada.
I will leave those for next time.
Stayed tuned...
