Have you visited Forbidden City in China?
Have you also visited Jingshan Park located immediately north of the Forbidden City?
It is an imperial park covering 23 hectares (57 acres). The focal point is the artificial hill called "Prospect Hill". It is listed as a Key State Park.
It is one of my favorite parks. When I lived in China, the kindergarten daughter went to was situated in that park. Twice a day, I would present myself in the park.
I really enjoyed my time in the beautiful park.
That was more than twenty years ago. At that time, the single entrance admission was 0.30 Yuan (0.06 cents Canadian) but the monthly pass was ONLY 1.00 Yuan (0.20 cents). By visiting the park only four times, you would make your monthly pass totally worth it.
In the morning after I dropped my daughter, I could often find elderly folks (or younger ones) line dancing, singing opera, and doing other cultural activities.
I joined the dances sometimes, other times I just climbed the little hills from one end to the other. There are five individual peaks on the artificial hills with five elaborate pavilions. The view of the Forbidden City was breathtaking.
I am not sure if my daughter still remembers those kindergarten days. It wasn't easy to get into that prestigious place so I often felt so blessed. I made friends with some moms. I remember one mom told me that her son wanted to learn English so he could converse with my daughter when he grows up. In his young mind, my daughter won't be able to speak Chinese again once she came to Canada.
