That is the Toastmasters meeting theme for tomorrow.
I watched the short video recommended by the VP of Education and I was fascinated by the concept and the words of wisdom by Abraham Maslow.
"Musicians must make music, artists must paint, poets must write if they are to be ultimately at peace with themselves. What human beings can be, they must be. They must be true to their own nature. This need we may call self-actualization. It refers to man's desire for self-fulfillment, namely to the tendency for him to become actually in what he is potentially."
"Self-actualizing people have the wonderful capacity to appreciate again and again, freshly and naively, the basic goods of life, with awe, pleasure, wonder, and even ecstasy, however stale these experiences may have become to others."
"The honors, the status, the rewards, the popularity, the prestige, and the love they can bestow must have become less important than self-development and inner growth."
The current VP of Education will become President as of July 1 and I find her words about the picnic very amusing:
"We had our first social of the year yesterday!!! Great weather, wonderful company, fun games, and lots of laughter! Let's do it again and join us next time!"
I do hope that she keeps her words and does it again not just once, maybe two or three more times before the end of the summer.
We all crave that human connection after such a long pause...
Don't you agree?
