One of my mentors asked about my view on living in the present. In her email, she shared her stories and insights on embracing the new reality and living with the new lifestyle.
To me, nothing says better about living in the present than the book titled The Present,
I delivered a speech about that book (CC6, 2003, attached here). Reading it again, many years later, the message still rings true.
The book is all about the present but it did include the past and the future, it instructs us to learn from the past and to plan for the future, in that way, we can be more in the present.
One habit I have picked up since March is to practice daily meditations, three times a day, morning affirmation, afternoon gratitude, and evening prayer.
Daily meditations really help me to stay in the present, to get in touch with my body, mind, and spirit. They enable a smooth dialogue between my body and my inner wisdom. I learned when to slow down, when to let go, and when to trust my guts.
Another good thing out of this madness is that I got to see both of my kids on a regular basis in the virtual world. That is an added bonus to my new reality.
Here are the words of wisdom by Lao Tzu:
If you are depressed you are living in the past.
If you are anxious you are living in the future.
If you are at peace you are living in the present.
