According to the Chinese lunar calendar, Saturday, February 4th is called 立春.
立春 (Lichun) signifies the beginning of spring in East Asian cultures. When I talked with my sister a day before, the temperature has already hit two digits, plus of course.
Here in Montreal, yesterday marked the coldest day this year.
The image for this post was a screenshot taken around 10:00 am yesterday.
Did you also see the sun in the image? that is what motivated me to go out and embrace the cold.
I invited some friends over and I wanted to experience how cold it could be for them since some had to drive, and some had to take the metro, either way, there would be some outdoor time.
I wanted to have that first hand experience and I also needed to reach my daily goal.
My daily goal remains 10,000 steps and it was not easy to achieve that just by staying at home, even with some exercise by watching YouTube.
Have you heard of that saying?
I put on my snow pants, my heavy snow jacket, with double undershirts under, and my mask. I stepped into the cold and walked to the library.
I live 20 minutes away from the library on foot.
By the time I returned home. I hit my daily steps goal and my place was full of sunshine.
To me, it was the best time to have friends over and enjoy being with each other while playing cards and sharing a meal together.
We tasted Spring Pancakes (春饼), Oil Noodles (油泼面), made by our talented chef Linda.
It was my first time to have those and they were so tasteful.
We also had Sweet Dumplings (汤圆) to celebrate the Chinese Lantern Festival.
It was a beautiful day. we documented it with a few photos and a sweet and short video made by artistic Joanne.
It is my third time playing cards this year and I am already planning for the next one...
