Did You Walk Today?

Updated: Mar 30, 2021

The sun was asleep all day. He was nowhere to be found.

It rained, it snowed, sometimes it was the mix of both. Walking against the wind felt like having tiny needles blowing on the face. I was forced to turn around a few times just to avoid that harsh blow. It wasn't an easy walk.

I reached my daily goal of 10,000 steps though. That is something I have been every day, since December 2016, when I got my first Fitbit watch, rain or shine.

I came across this interesting article the other day: 5 Benefits of Taking 10,000 Steps a Day Besides Weight Loss by Mike Carlson. In the article. it mentioned the 5 benefits below:

  1. You could strengthen your heart

  2. You could store less body fat

  3. You could help stabilize your blood sugar

  4. You could improve your brain's performance

  5. You will reinforce healthy habits

I have never been a gym person but I know that many people are. The closure of those gyms due to Covid-19 was a hard blow to many and I truly feel bad for them.

Maybe it is time to seek alternatives. A lot of people started training, exercising at home. I tried a few days of dancing in front of a YouTube program but I lost interest quickly. I still prefer walking outside or inside the shopping mall before people started rushing in.

It is nice to walk around. It is nicer when I have something to listen to, audiobook, music, or when I talk with a friend. They make my daily walk more enjoyable.

What about you? How do you stay fit and healthy?
