Conversation

  1. What is your best tip for starting a conversation?

  2. Are you the listener or the talker?

  3. Are you attentive to non-verbal cues?

Here are my answers:

  1. My best tip for starting a conversation is to ask a great question, not just any question, but an intriguing one. If the person was introduced to you by a mutual friend, the question could be: how did you meet?

  2. Am I the listener or the talker? Well, that depends, to a great talker, I am the listener; If I feel like being the center of the conversation, then I am the talker, for example, when I am giving a speech next Tuesday. I will be the talker for 5 to 7 minutes

  3. Yes, I am attentive to non-verbal cues, especially indifferent ones.

Here are two interesting quotes:

"Speak in such a way that others love to listen to you; listen in such a way that others love to speak to you".

"Make sure you have finished speaking before your audience is finished listening". Dorothy Sarnoff

I might use one of them as my Public Speaking Tip tomorrow evening.
