Contest - A Unique Toastmasters Experience

If you are a Toastmasters member, have you participated in a contest?

I did. It was such a unique fun learning experience, so I participated a few times.

The cover photo was taken on Sept. 9, 2014, I was a contestant for the club's Humorous Speech Contest, and guess what? I won.šŸ˜

I won first place and I went to the next level, Area Contest. I didn't win at the Area Level but I did gain a lot from the experience. I spoke in front of more people and some of them I didn't even know. It sounds scary and it was.

I gained more confidence. I acquired more sense of humor by challenging my own ability and learning from other capable funny speakers. Yes, humor can be learned. Believe it or not, I was told by quite a few people that "you are so funny."

I used my real-life experience and delivered a killer performance at my club level at least.

My winning speech was titled: My First Ticket (for going through a red light, not by driving a car, but by driving my bike).

That was one of the many fond memories I have about Toastmasters contest season.

This afternoon, a contest is happening at McGill Toastmasters club. Don't miss it.

Even if you are not a Toastmaster...yet, it is a perfect time to check out what a contest looks like. You might discover the competitive side of you that you are not aware of.

We will have six contestants for Evaluations and three for the International Speech Contest.

Starting at 5:45 pm, on Zoom, here is the link:
