It is a great book written by John C. Maxwell and published in 2014. It was mentioned in Sonia Di Maulo's Coffee Chat "The Art of Growth" at the 2020 PowerSkills virtual career conference.
I am a promoter of life-long learning so this book is a must for me.
It still is work in progress but I recommend it wholeheartedly.
I am compelled to divide this entry into two parts so I can reflect better its takeaways:
Law of intentionality: you must know yourself to grow yourself, focus on your passion
Law of awareness: be great mentee: be teachable, be prepared, set agenda by asking great questions. show what you have learned, and be accountable
Law of the mirror: when you invest in yourself, you will see more value in yourself
Law of reflection: Investigate, Incubate, Illuminate, and Illustrate. "Follow effective action with quiet reflection to get even more effective action" Peter Drucker
Laws of consistency: Motivation gets you going, discipline keeps you going. Develop the habits of success because your habits lead to your destiny.
Law of the environment: If you are always at the head of the class, you are in the wrong class!
Law of design: develop strategies to maximize growth
Law of pain: good management of bad experience leads to great growth
I will mention the other 7 in the next week's entry. This book is meant to take time to apply to my daily life, not to rush through and put it aside.
It is one of the best self-improvement/growth books. It is packed with sights and pearls of wisdom.
Have you read it?
