Book of the Week (#20): Getting Unstuck

Updated: Mar 31, 2021

The book was written by Pema Chödrön.

It is about "Breaking Your Habitual Patterns and Encountering Naked Reality".

"Chödrön demonstrates how effective the Buddhist point of view can be in bringing order into

disordered lives." --Publishers Weekly

She has written several books: The Wisdom of No Escape, Start Where You Are, When Things Fall Apart, The Places that Scare You, No Time To Lose, Practicing Peace in Times of War, How to Meditate, and Living Beautifully. All are available from Shambhala Publications and Sounds True.

This is the only one I came across from the library and it is a five-hour-long audiobook. I often listened to it when I was in bed as her voice was very soothing. Her approach is very down to earth and easy to understand. Her teaching style is very relaxing and comforting. At times I felt like I was listening to a friend who has much insights and wisdom to share.

As claimed on the site where this book was promoted: "On Getting Unstuck, Chödrön guides us through this sticky feeling, exploring the moments when we get hooked, and offers us tools for learning to stay with our uneasiness, soften our hearts toward ourselves and others, and live a more peaceful life in the fullness of the present moment."

Do you feel "Stuck"? Do you want to get "Unstuck"? Pick up this book and see if it can help.
