In this article, 10 little habits that can transform your mornings in 5 minutes or less, I came across some very interesting points. I decided to copy them all down here, with my reflections.
Make your bed: two minutes or less. Yes, that is the first thing I do after I get up each morning. YOU?
Breathe: one minute. This is new to me and I need to practice more mindful breathing as said by Cory Halaby, a certified mindfulness meditation teacher. “Deliberate, conscious breathing, first thing in the morning, gives you a moment to clear any funky feelings you wake up with, and remember your intention to have a good day,”
Say no to your phone: fewer than 15 seconds. Something I need to work on
Look in the mirror and smile: fewer than 10 seconds. A great habit, are you doing it?
Practice gratitude: fewer than two minutes. Yes, gratitude can be an instant mood changer. Focus on your blessings, always!
Stretch your body: fewer than five minutes. “Reach your hands up (as if to touch the stars), take a big inhale, do a swan dive forward, [and] exhale as you bend over, reaching for your toes,”
Notice what feeling good feels like fewer than 30 seconds. Coffee? Shower?
Start your day the night before: fewer than two minutes. I tend to write down what I need to do for the day after so that I can start my day on the right foot
Meditate: fewer than five minutes. I do have a great short 5 minutes meditation that I follow whenever I can
Drink water: less than one minute. Yes. I do that.
