Today is Canaday Day. It is supposed to be a BIG day of celebrations all across the nation. I have witnessed a few in the past, from the parade to fireworks, from Ottawa to Old Montreal, from watching to having a piece of HUGE Happy Canada Day cake.
I became a proud Canadian Citizen on August 13, 2002. Today I took out the letter received on that day and planned a day of quiet celebration. I just wanted to reflect on the words and meaning of being a Canadian.
Yes, COVID-19 reshapes our reality. Big parties, fireworks will be replaced by various online shows. It certainly is very different yet the spirit of celebration across the nation is still high and it is very contagious.
My quiet celebration turned into joyful noises instantly when I watched this video. Check it out yourself and feel the beat.
I am grateful to possess the asset of being a Canadian as written in the letter and I will always be a proud Canadian.
