A Nice Visit

It has been a week since my son and his girlfriend visited.

They arrived from New York on a Wednesday, spent the weekend, and left Montreal early Monday morning.

Though brief, it was a very nice visit during some of the coldest days of January.

As commented by a dear friend: "That’s nice! Freezing weather may be here, but nothing beats warm family time."

That was so true!

I was invited twice to have lunch with them at Google and to try some delicious snacks. The best part? It was less than a 10-minute walk away!🚶‍♀️‍➡️🚶‍♀️‍➡️🚶‍♀️‍➡️

I was even promised lunch at Google's New York offices on my next visit—plus a Broadway show. Yeah! 😊😊😊

On Thursday evening, we went to Tendresse, a vegan bistro in Montreal's Village.

It had a cozy, intimate atmosphere that perfectly matched our lively conversation. It was my first time introducing my new date to the young couple, and I believe they made a great first impression on each other 😆😆😆

Walking home after dinner that evening while stepping on fresh snow, never felt so refreshing ❄️❄️❄️

We played a card game called Oh Hell—one I had played with before, though I wasn’t very good at it.

To my great surprise, I finished in first place at the end of the game. I WON 😳😳😳

On Sunday, I cooked dinner and received compliments. There were 10 dishes on the table, but only half was made with my real efforts. I wouldn't call myself a great cook, but I could pass for a good one because I made them with love 🥰🥰🥰

After dinner on Sunday, we played Scrabble. I learned that Na is a playable word. Even though I ended up in last place, I was still pleased that we had the chance to play. Scrabble is my favorite game, and it has been quite a few years since I last played so I miss the fun 😊 😊 😊

On the first evening of their arrival, I was pleasantly surprised when I received a few Google products as Christmas presents. I love anything with Google on it because they will remind me of them 😊😊😊

On the last evening before their departure, I gave each of them a red envelope as a symbolic gesture to celebrate Chinese New Year. The amount inside represented "fortune all the way" or "prosperity forever," as it sounds similar to the phrase '一路發' (yīlùfā).

The highlight of that evening was when my daughter joined us for a video call. It was so lovely to chat with her ❣️❣️❣️

It was a wonderful visit. We reminisced about my visit to New York and discussed the possibility of future visits from both sides.

I cherished every moment we spent together.

Come back SOON!
