"Where words leave off, music begins" That was a quote from Heinrich Hein. It seems to suggest that words have limitations as an expressive medium which I don't agree with.
There is a better way to connect words and music. For me, words always flow more freely with music in the background.
Guitar music was flowing gently in the background when I was writing this blog, just like the cover photo for this entry: welcoming the candlelight into the darkroom. It instantly filled the darkroom with light, delight, and hope, a state I constantly achieve with background music.
Music has become my best companion ever since I was in college, at that time cassettes were the sources of my joy and happiness.
Before I had my cellphone, home stereo system, personal CD player, and MP3 devices have always brought me a great sense of comfort no matter what I was doing. As long as I have music playing, everything falls into places nicely.
Below are a few of my favorite quotes. Attached is an article published in a Chinese National Musical Daily Newspaper (音乐生活报).
“Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and life to everything.” – Plato
“Music drives you. It wakes you up, it gets you pumping. And, at the end of the day, the correct tune will chill you down.” – Dimebag Darrell
“Without music, life would be a blank to me.”― Jane Austen
Music is like a candle in the darkroom. It brings peace and tranquility to the soul.
