A Delightful Visit

Updated: Jun 13, 2023

A week has passed since my son and his lovely girlfriend (my birthday twin) went back to New York. They came over to celebrate his birthday. I hosted the "love bird" for one week, from Sunday to SundayšŸ šŸ šŸ

It was a delightful visit šŸ˜€šŸ˜€šŸ˜€

They went back to New York last Monday morning and I miss them dearly, especially when I sneeze as I don't hear any "Bless You" echoed in the room 😢😢😢

They came over last year around the same time but this visit was way better. Due to COVID and everything, we didn't even see each other that much last year 😲😲😲

This time they stayed at home, well, not from day one. They came over on the third day, at the end of our card-playing game. We had a nice Indian dinner together. I introduced them to my gang - six out of seven ladies (#7 is in China) ā™ ļøā™„ļøā™¦ļøā™£ļøā™ ļøā™„ļøā™¦ļøā™£ļø

Below were their day-by-day activities, I started writing this blog as the week unfolded because I cherished every moment with them 🄰🄰🄰

Monday was a holiday for them so we made plans after my work. I biked to McGill and met them there to go up Mont Royal. The weather was excellent and we had a beautiful stroll and a nice conversation ā›°ļøā›°ļøā›°ļø

Monday usually was my least favorite day but last Monday, I didn't know where I got so much energy šŸ˜•šŸ˜•šŸ˜•

My son was very enthusiastic about speaking Chinese this time. At the dinner table in China Town. He asked his girlfriend "你吃鄱äŗ†å—?", "儽吃吗?" as well as "ä½ ēˆ±ęˆ‘吗?" I was impressed and very much amused as wellšŸ˜„šŸ˜„šŸ˜„

We biked home. At the bixi station, there were ONLY three bikes leftšŸ€šŸ€šŸ€

Tuesday was a working day for everyone so we didn't have much activity together. We played cards the night before ā™„ļøā™ ļøā™¦ļøā™£ļøā™„ļøā™ ļøā™¦ļøā™£ļø

Wednesday was my first day working in the office and I decided to walk. Sasa joined me and it was a pleasant walk. There was a special flower exhibition at Complex Dejardin 🌻🌼🌷

Thursday was the big boy's birthday. I had lunch at the Google office. It was a walk less than ten minutes from my office. Homemade dinner was postponed due to the heat wave. We had dinner in a Korean restaurant and his girlfriend picked up the tap. One of Eric's friends joined in from San Francisco and we played cards together. No cake but lots of laughter šŸ˜„šŸ˜„šŸ˜„

We created a mini Kudoboard and had ten people from the family join the celebration. He seemed very happy when he viewed the card 🌻🌷🌻

Friday: I was lucky to join them at Google for lunch for the second day in a row. They went to their friend for a sleepover and I had a quiet evening. I was a bit lonely šŸ˜•šŸ˜•šŸ˜•

Saturday: It was a relaxing day for me, I went grocery shopping. In the afternoon, I joined some neighbors for a potluck party while the kids were trying to catch up on some sleep. When I came back from a small dinner party with friends, my kids left for another party. The good thing is that they didn't party all night long as I told them we had a BIG day ahead!

Sunday: A beautiful day for an over 60 km ride, with 16,000 people. They even got their photo featured on the official site. You could only see a tiny bit of my red helmet in that photo but it was the BEST biking experience I have had in years šŸšµā€ā™‚ļøšŸšµā€ā™‚ļøšŸšµā€ā™‚ļø

I finally cooked the much-expected "birthday" dinner with some mini cheesecakes and we played cards after šŸŽ‚šŸŽ‚šŸŽ‚

Thank YOU for coming over and spending time together 🌹🌹🌹

I am looking forward to hosting you more often: doing more biking, walking, and playing cards...šŸ¤—šŸ¤—šŸ¤—
