There were thirty people at the celebration of the thirtieth anniversary of the Thornhill Toastmasters Club.
It is the club where I discovered the magic of Toastmasters and became a member in 2003.
Almost twenty years later, I am still a happy camper!
One fond memory is that after my first visit as a guest, I received a postcard from the club secretary in the mail thanking me and my friend for attending the meeting. On the following Tuesday, I received a call from the club president inviting us back. I did. After three visits, I signed up as a member.
When I was a member, I was very keen on delivering speeches. I drove to my mentor's work and practiced my Ice Breaker. I invited seven people to attend that meeting for my speech including my daughter.
At the year-end celebration, I was surprised to receive six certificates including Toastmaster of the Year, Club Photographer, and a little Smile Award trophy.
At tonight's meeting, we sang songs and played games. Two seasoned speakers I know from 2003/04 spoke at the celebration, one at the age of eighty and his name is Jim Scollick. I still remember his encouraging words when I was job searching. Those words made to my top ten Toastmasters memories. Check it out in the attached for those words.
I left the meeting a bit early but I am sure the fun continued till the end...
Thank you for inviting me to this wonderful celebration. I am truly honored to be a part.
Cheers to another 30 years! 🎈🎈🎈
