80/20 Rule

For tomorrow's Toastmasters meeting, the theme is 80/20 rule.

Here is from our VP Education's weekly email:

Over 100 years ago, an economist Vilfredo Pareto had an interesting finding in his garden: 80% of peas were produced by 20% peapods. He also found the same signal in wealth distribution: 80% of the wealth was possessed by 20% of the population.

This is the 80/20 rule or Pareto principle, stating 80% of outputs are produced by 20% of inputs. This rule can be widely used in different fields, including goal setting.

When I first read the theme. A quote came to me immediately.

"80% of success is just showing up" Woody Allen

He didn't say anything about the other 20%, some people say if 80 percent of success is showing up then 20 percent is following up.

It totally makes sense but I am also very curious about what others would say about the 20/80 rule, at Toastmasters.
