Yesterday was the last day of this bixi season and today we welcomed the first snow of this winter ⛄⛄⛄
What a coincidence! Who wants to bike in the snow? I know that I don't.
We never had such a long warm autumn in the past. I remember some of the chilly days when I used bixi before the end of the season.
Yesterday we still had perfect weather to take advantage of the city bike.
I walked for about 3 km during my lunch for 40 minutes to visit a friend who was shopping for a winter coat and needed my opinion. I arrived and stayed for 5 minutes, gave my option, and left.
Thanks to bixi, I could get home in less than 15 minutes.
I have been using the bike system since the second year after it launched and I bought the annual subscription all those years when I lived in the city. I even subscribed for my kids at one time and I used to check their whereabouts using the system 🚲🚲🚲. One time I was even worried a bit as my daughter did not dock the bike at the station near her dorm. It turned out that she had a conference to attend and stayed at the hotel instead of biking back to her place. I stopped checking on them and bringing worry to myself after. 😂😂😂
Today I got a reminder from Facebook about an entry I did 11 years ago, in 2011. It reads:
Bixi 2011: 1314.50. Did 157 km more than last year (2010).
This year, I did only 565.1 km.
Overall, I did 2,841.5 km and saved 277.3 L of gas ⛽⛽⛽
Well, in 2011 I did not have a Fitbit and wasn't conscious of the benefits of walking 😊😊😊
When I searched my steps, my total surprised me a bit: the steps I took from May to today, are equal to 2,729.39 km and I climbed 2917 floors. 🐄🐄🐄. My best day was October 30, 34,764 steps (24 km). I still remember vividly what I did that day: a trip to Botanical Garden, then 3 hours dancing by the river. And I used bixi a few times that day to go from one point of interest to the other!
I have to thank Fitbit for all my steps, I have had a few watches: from the first one I received on Christmas day 2016 to today's free Fitbit (due to the recall of the company).
Most of all, I want to thank bixi for a wonderful season. I am looking forward to your return next April or May.
