Simple Pleasures

Updated: Sep 23, 2023

Here is the definition of Simple Pleasures on Google:

But often it's life's simple pleasuresthe moments, sensations, and actions that we experience, feel, and do every day, often without taking notice—that can lead to an unequivocal amount of joy. These simple pleasures are the most unassuming, experiences we commonly take for granted.

One reason for NOT taking anything for granted is the creation of this blog. My next post will be marked #800, it could also serve as a #800 reminder that there are so many simple pleasures in life worth cherishing and celebrating...

Here are a few examples:

  1. Playing cards with friends: This past Saturday marked #30 I have been a player since this January. There were a total of 5 people this time, with chicken soup from our cooking master Linda, delicious biscuits from Japan from Pan, fresh flowers from Jin's Rose Garden, lovely presence of Joanne...this weekly activity has become a part of my perfect combo ♠️♥️♦️♣️

  2. Ping-Pong: It takes two to Ping-Pong, luckily, I have Cui and we played indoors during my lunch hour 🏓🏓🏓

  3. Made online purchases: One was made when my son was over and I got his help with the setup of a new bed. The other was for my upcoming cruise trip. When I traveled last time, my carry-on luggage bought from Amazon was rejected by Air Canada. We will take Air Canada again and I am positive that they will accept their own product without reservation 🧳🧳🧳

  4. Watched a live Jazz show: one musician is our Rose lady's talented husband 🎸🎸🎸

  5. Reading out loud at breakfast Over a hearty breakfast prepared by our master cook Linda: sweet banana crepe and green onion cakes, Linda read out aloud an article I wrote for her wedding celebration in 2019. We were both touched by those loving tender moments. I even lost my appetite a bit as I felt the fullness of the 精神食粮

  6. Chatting and exchanging messages/photos with my kids: Even though we don't live in the same city. I never feel that we are too far apart. Through those regular exchanges, I feel they are even closer to me than before. I also appreciate their presence. My son came over twice this year and my daughter will visit in October. I might go see her again at Christmas time🥰🥰🥰

  7. BBQ in the park: we tasted delicious food, danced to beautiful music, picked up gift bags, and had a fun time with wonderful people. See one of the photos below.

  8. Sitting down and writing my blog: like the one you are reading now. It fills my heart with gratitude and makes me feel so blessed with all the simple pleasures...

What about you? What is your definition of simple pleasure? What makes you tick?
