The Tour de l’Île is a Sunday biking classic, where thousands of cyclists fill the streets of Montréal with their positive energy and infectious enthusiasm, creating an unforgettable urban festival.
I have so many fond memories of it, from 2008 to 2016. I did a total of nine times.
My top seven memories:
The first one was on June 1, 2008, also my son's 10th birthday, It was my first 50 km ride, and my second ride that summer was over 100 km 🌹🌹🌹
The last one was in 2016 when the rain started even before we left home in Laval. It was discouraging so that became the last one...well, I lied 😲😲😲
I did a Tour la Nuit one time but I didn't enjoy it that much as we started when the sun was down and some area was really dark. I went with a fellow Toastmaster as my son was nowhere to be found from the very beginning
I also did my first and only 100 km. I went with a buddy but lost him not even halfway. He chased some bikers to take photos and missed our turn. It wasn't fun biking all alone when in some areas I was really alone. No cheering crowd, just high way☹️☹️☹️
The ride in 2011 fell on the day when Eric had to take an exam. My daughter came along. She didn't want to take any break. I was impressed with her endurance. I think that she got that trait from me 😀😀😀
We biked passing by my home a few times but I only let my son quit once with the excuse of doing homework 🚵🚵🚵
The day when I did my 100 km, I had to take a Bixi to a restaurant one hour after my long ride to celebrate my son's 16th birthday. I was too tired to ride back home. I went on a date and got a ride home after 🥰🥰🥰
Photos are from 2009, 2010, and 2011.
