The photo for this post was taken more than ten years ago.
The venue in the background is a dance place made possible by the city of Verdun. I used to go every Saturday in the summer for social dancing. Sometimes after a night of dancing, I would go with friends to Chinatown for another meal around midnight. I used to be so full of energy.
One time I knew that I could not go in the evening, so I biked with my son during the day just to pass by the place so I didn't feel that bad for not being able to go that evening.
Another time I paid someone $10.00 for a ride there, to dance the night away, of course, I got a ride back home from a friend after.
Bus services were scarce over the weekend, one time after I got off the Metro, I had to walk for almost one hour to get to the place. The distance was 4 km but in high heels? It was quite an experience.
I am so happy that after so many years of absence, this past Sunday, I could go and dance again. I went by Metro (free over the weekend) and then bixi. Biking all the way was also doable but under the summer sun? It could be a bit too much, so I took the easy way.
This Sunday, I danced for two hours straight line dancing, my new favorite dance, the one you don't need a partner but can still have a great time.
I plan to go back every Sunday afternoon (1:00 to 4:00) this summer whenever I can.
To a summer of outdoor dancing, cheers!
