Yesterday Once More

It is a hit song by the Carpenters from their 1973 album Now & Then. A song that makes me smile every time when I listen to it. A song that reminds of an article I wrote and published in Chinese titled "Yesterday Like A Song". (see attached)

In that article, I recalled how my date with music started and how much richness it has added to my life. It seemed that there was a song for every moment.

During those college years, life started to reveal itself to me through music in many layers. I learned to appreciate many moments with songs. I used titles of songs to describe the power of music and how often I let myself carried away by that power.

Youth itself is like a song, isn't it?

Memory is the first song that I was so mesmerized by the melody and the lyrics that I started memorizing the words. I got into the habit of learning the words by the heart for many songs after. Most songs by The Carpenters of course. later Enya. I bought all her music cassettes and recorded one with all the songs I liked the most and brought that with me when I came to Canada.

The YouTube video is perfect background music for writing or browsing the web.

Johnny Depp said: "Music touches us emotionally, where words alone can't." I have to agree with him on this one. Words may have power but sometimes music is pure MAGIC that goes beyond words.

"Music is the strongest form of magic" Marilyn Manson

What role does music play in your life?
