Winter Wonderland

Updated: Mar 27, 2021

Last night we had a lot of snow.

This morning I woke up in a winter wonderland.

I sent a snow photo with Jacque Cartier bridge in the background to my kids on WeChat. It was a scene we used to see often in the winter when we lived in Montreal, right from our little balcony.

My son responded right away: "niceeee".

My daughter is not much on social media these days.

I asked: "do you miss the snow? We had plenty today".

His response: absolutely

Two seconds later: not

I don't blame him. With 11 degrees above zero and without needing a heavy jacket to go out, who wants snow?

I do miss him, especially the time we spent in the winter when he was little. I miss our Fun with Snow. My daughter went to China for high school. When she returned to Montreal, she moved right into the university dormitory.

I also miss the time when we used to go skating together, a few times at McGill arena and one time at Mont-Royal ice rink next to Beaver Lake. The cover photo for this entry was taken in 2007.

Time flies. Thirteen years already.

I don't skate anymore. My daughter did go skating not long ago and she even sent me a video of her practice clip, at my request of course. My son is more into basketball and bouldering these days.

The fond memories of our time together are still as fresh as snow.
