Book of the Week (#44): Word by Word

A book written by Anne Lamott.

This book got a rating of 4.11 on Goodreads among 735 ratings.

It is an audiobook made from a workshop. She was the animater and there were questions from the audience. I was pleasantly surprised by her witty words and inspiring stories.

They say: facts tell, story sell.

Good writing, she says, slow you down, opens your heart and teaches you who you are. Good writing arrives through your fingers, knowing what. But you must endure terrible first drafts and use short assignments to get there, word by word.

Here is part of an interesting review of her book: "Lamott shines a candle in the darkness for every person that has a dream of writing."

There are quite a few people who gave this book five stars ratings and they all mentioned her book: Bird by Bird.

Guess that book will be on my to read list.

Her voice was nice but there are a lot of "um"s in it. As a Toastmaster, I wish that people like her who give workshops realize the benefits of Toastmasters training.

They will make you aware of all the "um"s when you speak and they will increase your impact once you start speaking without using ANY.

Trust me, that will make a BIG difference.
